Delayed Entry Program

so it has been a long while since i updated. i have been busy busy and didn't feel like writing about what i have done so far. i went to MEPS again two more times

February 14th

i was put in the hotel. ate dinner talked to a few recruits then took a shower and went to sleep.

February 15th

woke up at 4am ate breakfast arrived at MEPS around 5am. checked in and waiting for the navy recruiting area to call me so i could look for a job. well since it wasn't January anymore i lost my chance at HM - Hospital Corpsman... since my medical papers took to long to get in, the job was no longer open for shipping out in February and the next opening was in August... i wanted to leave as soon as possible so i was willing to take any other job. So i picked IS - Intelligence Specialist but they had to do a background check and by the time i was good the job was no longer open for leaving in April and the next opening was in October.... ok so now i had to pick another job but they ran out of time and i had to come back tomorrow. I went back to the hotel ate,played games,took a shower and went to sleep at 9pm.

February 16th

i woke up at 4am ate breakfast same thing , arrived to MEPS at 5am. Checked in and waited for the navy recruiting area to call me down to select a job. They made sure to get me first so around 9am or so i got to look a jobs again. I kept telling the person that i wanted to leave as soon as possible so ill take any job that can leave in February,March, or April. there were no openings for February.... well there were but only for Reserves and i wanted to go Active Duty.

So the person is looking and looking through people that failed to get in for some reason to try to get me their spot to leave soon. but no luck.... I was then asked if i wanted to be a CS and i was like what is a CS? CS - Culinary Specialist so basically a cook. at first in my head i was like "hmmm i scored high on my asvab and that is the only job available to leave by April?" since everything else i was qualified for wasn't leaving till August-December i decided to just take the job... i was tired of waiting and wanted to go to boot camp already. so the person calls some place and asks if the job is still open for April and the guy on the phone says no it is not available.... but there is an opening in March. I was like oh even better haha so i signed some papers and took another piss test and then more papers to sign ect. got briefed in a briefing room after that i got sworn in and i ship out on March 24th to Great Lakes Chicago! Later my recruiters then asked me if i really really wanted that job because 4 other people wanted that job and ship date... so if i didn't want it i should look for another job. I kept the job. hehe

February 22nd

i am now in the Delayed Entry Program, i have to learn a lot of things that are important to the navy and its history. I went to my recruiters and signed more papers. took another piss test lol ahh so many piss tests. well after reading about how the navy is zero tolerance for drug use i had to take a test it wasn't hard at all since it was just a read this and answer this.

February 23rd

i got a call from my recruiter to learn the Eleven General Orders of a Sentry word for word by Tuesday. i have only memorized the first 2 so far ahhh its so hard trying to remember this but everyone else has been able to do it before me so it should come in time.

i am tired and i only have 2 more days to learn the Eleven General Orders of a Sentry. zzzzz goodnight

i got a call from my recruiter letting me know that my medical waiver to join the navy has been approved! so no more medical nonsense to deal with anymore wooo ^^

i went to my friends house and ate some chicken lol.

now i just have to wait for my next trip to MEPS and take the oath and officially be in the military

febuary 4th

it snowed in south texas??? lol i live near San Antonio so we got enough snow to make snowballs and tiny snowmen :P

so we played in the cold and got sick haha well atleast two of us did...

febuary 5th

hmmm superbowl tomorrow, i think the green bay packers are going to win. sorry to any steelers fans haha. time to go to sleep

My Journey to MEPS Part 2

January 25th

Sooooo its that time again lol.... nothing happened

January 26th

i wake up at 1pm to 7 missed calls from my recruiter! zomg i am going to MEPS haha. so i call my recruiter and apologized for answering just now since his first call was at 9am. 4:30pm i arrive at my recruiters office and he drops me off at the holiday inn. I checked in got my key and headed to my room , since last time sucked i was hoping my room mate wasn't crazy. The room was empty but there was a bag in one of the chairs. so i waited 30 mins watching tv when i decided to go downstairs and eat dinner. when i get to the dining room there is only 4 other people eating and talked to two guys going to the air force. after i was done eating it was about 5:40pm and i headed back to the room. my room mate was sitting on his bed watching a movie on the tv so i introduce myself and he wasn't crazy haha i was relieved. so he is turned out to be 17 years old and a jr in highschool i was like wow what branch are you going to join? he told me that he was going to join the national guard. when the movied finished he asked me if i ate and i was like yeah.. sorry , so he went down to eat by himself. around 6:30pm he came back to the room and asked if i wanted to go to the game room. we went to the game room and the two guys that i met at dinner were there lol so i said hey and they were playing some boxing game on the xbox 360. so me and my room mate played black ops on the ps3 and killed some zombies till we got bored and he suggested battle ship?? so i was like ok haha i haven't played that game in forever. so we played and i ended up winning 3 times in a row lol ah it was close. but we stopped playing when the airforce guys asked if we wanted to play monopoly instead haha. So we played till 9:47pm and cleaned the game room and went back to our room to sleep. one of the airforce guys had the most money so he won.

January 27th

the next morning 4:30am we ate breakfast and took the bus to MEPS so we check in and go our separate ways. i went to the navy recruit area and got my papers to go to the second floor and then i get sent to the medical floor. now was the time to see if i had enough medical papers!! lol so after sifting through my papers they let me take my physical.

stage 1 i got my blood pressure taken tested my eyesight and depth perception.

stage 2 they tested my hearing

stage 3 they waited for everyone that came today and had us fill out medical information ect and a breathalyser test haha everyone passed. [stage 4 is for women only]

stage 5 i had to pee in a cup for my drug test and get a tube of my blood taken for HIV testing

stage 6 we had to strip naked for a very very old male doctor that checked us for ball cancer i guess? and hemroids which i dont have thankfully lol.... "spread your butt cheeks"

stage 7 this part was the weight in and height measurement plus all crazy movements with our body to test our flexiblity and see if we had flat feet or pain doing any movements haha

stage 8 we had everything thing we just did checked with more personal questions for my case i had to talk about a scar on my back and i got sent back to the medical desk. they gave me a slip of paper saying that i didnt have enough medical information!!! again i was like like FML.....

12:00pm

by now it was lunch time and they said my physical would be good for 2 years. so i went back downstairs to the navy recruiting area and showed them my paper and they told me i could go eat lunch. so i ate lunch on the second floor with everyone else. 3 navy women recruits sat next to me and asked whats up since i had that paper and so did one of the other girls at the table.

so i talked about my scar and they were like awww i hope you still get in and i was like thanks one girl lost her contacts at the hotel, one girl had a weird heart beat, the other girl had a astigmatism. so after lunch i talk to the navy recruiting people and ask what do i do now? and they said i was done for the day and they called my recruiter.... so my recruiter comes 30mins later or so and he talks to them and i got to talk to a navy counselling lady. I had to write an essay about the surgery i had on my back and how it has affected my life, why i wanted to join, and what my future goals were. ahhh and i had a nosebleed while writing it so i had to start over on a new paper haha. so they told me it takes 2-3 business days for my test results to come in and thay they would send my letter to tennessee and its up to them if i get in. meh why!!! lol i suck a writing. so my recruiters take me home and say that they will get me in not matter what it takes. haha i hope.

January 28th

i went to my doctor and they told me the doctor they did the surgery on me is no longer working with them... so they didnt know what to send to MEPS... and i got all the papers and copied them and gave it to my recruiter.

January 29th

weekend... MEPS doesn't work on saturday or sunday.

Today i ate pizza in the morning pizza in the evening and pizza at supper time!!! lol jk but i did eat pizza twice today zzz boring day. no call from my recruiters

Febuary 1st

lol so yeah im gonna go to sleep since its going to be 1am now... maybe ill get a call today or not. part 3 of my journey better be my last! and not 4 trips!

My Journey to MEPS Part 1

~January 19th~

9:03am So the day started off as usual.... boring! waiting for a phone call from my recruiter to let me know how my medical papers are coming along so I can get sent to MEPS for my physical.

11:07am

I get a call from my recruiter saying that everything is clear and that I would be staying at the Holiday Inn in San Antonio tonight. I was excited since I finally would get to meet other recruits. I got my bags ready, ate some enchiladas for lunch, and took a shower.

5:34pm

The recruiter picks me up and I end up having to fill out more papers in their office and leave to the Holiday Inn.

8:47pm

I check in and the guy for the MEPS check in was a really grouchy lol... so after i get my room number i started looking for the room. As soon as i got to the room i open the door and my roommate is quiet and weird.... coming from me [a really quiet person]

~The crazy conversation between me and the roommate~

[Me] so i tell him my name and ask what branch of service he is joining. 2-3mins later he answers my question...

[Scary guy] "army"

[Me] and I'm like oh yeah? thats cool. That's when i ask him if he wants to eat dinner since i was hungry and the dinner service ends at 10pm.

[Scary guy] Ok.

[Me] so i'm starting to think the guy that i got stuck with is crazy.. I ask how old he was and tell him my age when we got to the dinning room. "started to think he wasn't talking since he was younger or not a people person" so 4mins after i asked the question he answers

[Scary guy] and he says 24. gets up and leaves to get a drink

[Me] so i look around and all the other recruits are chatting and I'm just waiting for our food to get there and i start feeling left out since everyone else got a friendly roommate. The food comes and we finish it in a few mins, so its 9:35pm and we head back to the room. when we got back to the room i tried talking to him by asking when he moved to San Antonio and he didn't answer me.... so i asked if he wanted to use the shower first and he said

[Scary guy] Ok.

[Me] so 40mins later he is done taking a shower and wearing the same clothes he had still. So i went to take a shower...because he took so long i was thinking i should do that too since he made me wait forever. So when i am done taking a shower i hear a knock on the door , i put on my clothes and open the bathroom door and he isn't there.. so i hear a knock again and its from the room door. I guess he was waiting in the hallway the whole time i was in the shower or something lol i didn't want to ask. After i let him in the room and finish putting away my wet clothes in my bag he says

[Scary guy] "September" i moved here in september.

[Me] Oh really? why did you move to san antonio? and he didnt answer... so i'm like well i'm going to try and get some sleep. while my roommate sits in a chair with the lights on making a pot of coffee.... He calls room service and asks for sugar and creamer for his coffee and then leaves the room with the lights on. I turn off the lights and get some sleep.. around 11pm

i wake up to knocking on the door. the room was pitch black still as i open the door it ends up being a room service guy bringing the sugar and creamer for my roommate. i put it on the table and went back to sleep. i woke up around 2am and he was sitting in the chair drinking his coffee and writing on tons of sticky notes.... so i try to go back to sleep and wake up at 3:30am and thats when he asked me

[Scary guy] Did you sleep well?

[Me] not really i am still tired....

[Scary guy] Do you want to eat breakfast at 4am?

[Me] Sure its almost time for the bus to get here anyways.... This is when things start to make sense on why he is so quiet and crazy. He starts telling me

[Scary guy] I am homeless , I have no memories of when i was younger. Do you happen to know any of these numbers?

[Me] as i'm sitting on the bed tired i'm like huh?? thinking in my head... did he just say that he was homeless? so i started feeling sorry for him since i was thinking he was antisocial and slow. Of course i wouldn't know any numbers he showed me lol but i didn't want to make him mad so i looked at them and told him "sorry i have no idea"

[Scary guy] Do you know any places in Austin that will taken in homeless people??

[Me] no i don't know any places in Austin, i haven't left my small town in 10 years.. sorry.

[Scary guy] Shows me a business card. This guy is in the navy, maybe if you talk to him you can get a job there.

[Me] i didn't want to be rude so i accepted the card he carried and put it in my bag.... after that sad and awkward time we had together it was now 4am and we were the first ones there for breakfast so i got a lot of bacon, some eggs, potato slices, and french toast. as more people started to walk in and saw my plate a stranger said to me "you must be hungry!" and i was like haha yeah.

4:40am

After breakfast i stood next to some random people waiting for the bus to MEPS and never saw "Scary guy" again since he never told me his name. After 20 mins of waiting for the bus everyone got on as we headed to Fort Sam Houston.

5:13am we arrive at MEPS we started getting processed and given name tags... well most of us but i didn't get one! so i was talking to the guy for Navy recruits and he had to call some people and i finally got my name tag.

5:30am

i walk up to the second floor and put my bag in storage, wait in line and get my papers. So after i got my papers they sent me up to the 3rd floor and i waited in line to get sent to the room for my Physical. The lady then looks at my papers and says "hold on i dont see you on the list to take your physical today. your doctor did not give us enough information, go back downstairs and come back next time." in my head i was like wow.... really? so i told the guy in charge of the navy recruits what the medical examiner said and he told me to call my recruiter. 30mins later my recruiter shows up and he couldn't help me either so he had to leave and do some stuff. i waited till 8am and another recruiter showed up to take me home. i get home around 9am+ Thursday January 20th.

~Friday January 21st.~

no calls from the recruiter. went to my friends 22nd birthday party it was freezing cold and fun.

~Saturday January 22nd~

nothing happened.

~Sunday January 23rd~

nothing happened.

Today is January 24th

9:52am

i called my recruiter and asked if i would be going to MEPS again this week and he was like, we submitted your medical papers back and are waiting on the word to send you back.

11:16pm

i wrote this blog entry it probably took me 30 mins+ lol.. well hopefully tomorrow i get some good news from my recruiter

11:20pm

my friend texts me and asks if i want to help dye her hair. I was planning on going to sleep when i finished this so i told her that i was going to sleep. which made her go into a deep dark depression as it progressed it then turned to a rage filled act of violence as she strangled each and everyone of her family members in their sleep and now she is on the run.

does this make me a bad friend??

jk about my friend killing her family. or am i?
